The sun disappeared today. Grey skies and a trip the the supermarket. Would have been an uneventful day if the boiler hadn’t, once again, broken. We decided to swallow the cost and get a new one. £2,500. Urgh. Installation is set for Tuesday, so two days of cold showers.

Very nice weather today and wanted to go for a family dog walk. To avoid the crowds we headed inland to Hexham. A 3 hour loop and only saw 2 other humans. Lots of paddling and splashing in various streams. Evening out in Newcastle at a Carribbean restaurant. Mrs Basil enjoyed herself. I thought it was ok.

Mrs Basil’s aunt died today after spending the last month or so in recovery from a stroke. First day back at work. A million emails waiting for me. Was hard to know what to prioritise. Dog was unsettled all night.

Mrs Basil overslept and missed church. I walked the dog and she took a big scalp of skin off her leg playing with Otto the Vizla. Put some Chilli in the slow cooker before heading out to meet old work mates for a few pints.

This morning had the awkward thing where I sit around trying to work while there’s tradesmen in my house. Thankfully the boiler replacement was done my lunchtime. Hot showers are excellent. So are thermostats. The dog was really unsettled again this evening.

Another delightful Monday off work. Planted the Willow weave that Mrs Basil had got for our 9 year anniversary. Mrs Basil needed some new weekend/cabin luggage so I headed off to town to get some. The sun came out so I fell into the pub on the way home and met Mrs Basil and Scout at the bus station and we walked home through the park.
