Strange birthday spent traveling. Dropped off the dog then got the train to Manchester. Not completely recovered from illness but mostly back to normal. There’s 2 pubs in Manchester I’ve always wanted to visit. Peveril of the Peak and The Marble Arch Inn. Unfortunately the latter is closed on Tuesdays. The former was great, for a fleeting visit.

Birthday bank holiday. So often have excellent weather, but not in the last few years. Mrs Basil had to work in the morning so I spent a few hours tiring out the dog. Then we went to try a new Mexican restaurant which unfortunately, was terrible. A nice relaxing weekend for the most part, though.

Full English breakfast then off to the airport. Everything went smoothly. Arrived at the hotel in Dubrovnik and went for a walk around the bay. Meal in the hotel restaurant because we are both knackered. Hoping the rain forecast for tomorrow passes by overnight.

First day back after a long weekend. Absolutely chaotic morning catching up with things that I’d handed off that were promptly fumbled. Followed by lots of waiting around. A pleasantly sunny evening made for a long dog club meeting.

We walked to Dubrovnik old town and wandered around and had lunch. Went into a church and a museum and did our best to avoid game of thrones shite. A bus back to the hotel for a few hours (Mrs Basil worked, unsurprisingly) before back to the old town for the evening. The new Pope was announced just as we arrived and all the Catholic churches and the cathedral were ringing their bells.

Had a very lazy day at work. Finally, at long last,nice weather. My birthday present from Mrs Basil finally arrived, a great stainless steel chefs pan. A friend’s dog hurt their leg this evening (a sprain, I think) and screamed and cried, it was awful to hear.
