Another day of rest. Only thing that happened was the mother stopped by and I opened my birthday present from her, a Japanese knife. It’s very nice, here’s hoping I can take care of it.

A day out drinking in Newcastle with my old mates from my hometown. Started at a new arcade bar which would have been fine… if it didn’t stink of sewage. Went to a few of the usual places and, after seven hours or so, they all piled onto the train home and I went for some gyros.

I’m very bunged up but otherwise feeling much better. Dog walker came to meet Scout, all went fine. Opened my birthday present from Mrs Basil. A bird feeder / ip camera. Managed to get it set up, hopefully will get some footage while on holiday.

A quiet Sunday. Dog walking and Reading. Finished the first Murderbot book. Fairly enjoyable… Not sure how good it is but got the 2nd one and will see if it holds my interest. Started ‘I Who Have Never Known Men’ and it’s very good so far. I have mixed feelings about my new ereader so far. Might be an excuse for a blog post.

Strange birthday spent traveling. Dropped off the dog then got the train to Manchester. Not completely recovered from illness but mostly back to normal. There’s 2 pubs in Manchester I’ve always wanted to visit. Peveril of the Peak and The Marble Arch Inn. Unfortunately the latter is closed on Tuesdays. The former was great, for a fleeting visit.

Birthday bank holiday. So often have excellent weather, but not in the last few years. Mrs Basil had to work in the morning so I spent a few hours tiring out the dog. Then we went to try a new Mexican restaurant which unfortunately, was terrible. A nice relaxing weekend for the most part, though.
