Mrs Basil had a haircut this morning while I walked the dog. It was cold but mercifully sunny. Picked up Mrs Basil and got lunch from the fishmonger on the way home. I had a lazy afternoon. Mrs Basil did some planting in the garden before walking the dog.

Mrs Basil had a pretty large career knock back today. Funding rejection that, whilst a long shot, she was really in the running for. She’s spent decades of fighting for every inch and never being able to gain whole yards. It’s hard for me to know what she’s going through, given I’ve never really tried to do anything. It’s going to be tough for a while.

After collecting Mrs Basil from church with the dog we all went to meet a few friends for a dog’s birthday party. The dogs faffed about with balls in the stream for about 2 hours and loved it. This evening we watched Newcastle with the EFL Cup. The natives are delighted.

Gloriously sunny morning. All too brief respite from the gloom and mud. A pleasant walk and lunch from the fishmongers. Went to pickup a new record. Kissing Distance by The Six Parts Seven and Goodmorning Valentine. It’s only March, but high chance it will be my album of the year.

Mrs Basil is coming down with a cold. I spent the day fighting with my visual studio environment. Code for a task took about 90 minutes. The rest of the day was fighting the environment.

The sunny weekend we were “promised” turned into just another mud bath. Another Sunday where I did nothing. Walked the dog. Met Mrs Basil after church. Watched football, walked the dog again…. Started reading Revenge by Yoko Ogawa, not sure what to make of it yet.
