2025
Another fairly exhausting day and my last dog free day for a while so I went to the pub right after work for a few pints. Mrs Basil had a day of submitting things to the bfi for her Palestinian film.

Found out that the CTO at Employer Inc. is leaving. Yet more executive churn. I don’t like the guy but am nervous about the implications for our department and our team. My kingdom for some stability. Better the devil you know, and all that.

The first day of pleasant weather for 2025. Spent lunchtime in the garden with the dog. Then finished work really early and took the dog out at 15:45 for two and half hours. She’s knackered. She met lots of puppies who were desperate to play with her but she was her usual aloof self.

One of those annoying work days where you spend most of the time on phone calls and almost no time doing any actual work. Not much happened today. Finished work, made burgers for dinner, watched a few episodes of The Expanse.

Miserable weather today. Spent as little of it as I could get away with outside with the dog. Mrs Basil had some bad news about some potential funding so she’s a little down.

Had a meeting with the outgoing CTO where he assured us thing’s he couldn’t possibly, like the direction his as yet unknown successor will want to take the department. Spent my day between documents and coding some ungodly report. Cancelled Spotify to try Tidal for a while, will see how that goes.
